Work Group 4:
Software Testing

In the Northern Test Center Forum there is a continuously revolving base of projects that take place in Work Group 1 (Wireless Test Standard), Work Group 2 (Embedded Testing), Work Group 3 (Test Processes and Analysis) and Work Group 4 (Software Testing). Northern Test Center is partly closed forum serving its member companies as a lookout spot to the development of the field of testing. Northern Test Center sends its member companies a monthly newsletter.
Objectives
The mission of Work Group 4 is to reach the highest quality level in focused areas of software testing.
State of the art in software testing will be attained by research and education. The working group will focus research on the testing areas recognized as the most important ones among partner companies. The potential areas are test automation, test driven development (TDD) and GUI testing, for example. Research will be organized in the form of research projects and theses. Education will be given in workshops and seminars focused on testing methods, practices and tools. The group also actively gathers and disseminates information about interesting papers, books, workshops, seminars and conferences in the area of software testing.
Working group has a strong contribution from the ICT industry (CCC, Elektrobit, F-Secure, Nethawk and Nokia), as well as from research institutes (VTT, University of Oulu).
